2014 Budget - Historic Car Tax PDF Print Email

Budget 2014

There's good news for classic car owners in the 2014 budget. From April 2014, the classic car exemption from VED will begin rolling from 40 years, with cars built before January 1974 eligible for a zero-rated tax disc. Then, from January 2015, the formerly fixed cut-off, will become a rolling one.

Dyane Inner Rear Wings - Update

I am pleased to be able to report that the supply difficulties we have been experiencing with the supply of these items have been resolved and that production of these will be restarting very soon.

We are currently awaiting the production of new test pressings and once these have been “signed off” production of the first batch of wings will commence.

2CVGB Membership Fee Increases PDF Print Email

We are sorry to have to announce that 2CVGB membership fees will be increasing. The new rates will come in to effect for those renewing in January 2013. This affects overseas members more than it does UK members, for reasons that I will go on to explain.

It is inevitable that costs have to be passed on when they start to rise, and the main cost for our members living abroad is the postage. The cost of postage alone to the EU for 12 months subscription is £26.23 and to the rest of the world (outside the EU) is a staggering £41.62. This includes your renewal letter, possibly a reminder letter and sending out your renewal pack. On top of this you have the cost of printing the magazine, the cost of administering the membership and of course a contribution to the day to day running costs of the club.

MoT changes from 2012 PDF Print Email

The Department for Transport is adding a number of new mandatory test items to the annual MoT from 1 January 2012 to comply with a revised European testing directive. The aim of the revised directive (2009/40/EC) is to harmonise minimum test requirements across Europe and make sure the test reflects the electrical/electronic complexity of modern car safety features... but how does this affect the average A-Series owner?

Some of you may have heard the rumours that FJ can now insure younger motorists. We're really pleased to report that that is true - for their existing under-25 policy holders:
