A member of Lancaster Insurance's Classic Car Club team, Andrew Misseldine, attended this years Registers weekend and has written the below review of the event which i thought i would share with you. I hope you will all agree with Andrews kind words about the club, our members and the overall atmospere of 2CVGB Events.
"Once a year, owners and fans of the Citroën 2CV and its A-Series derivatives get together at Burleigh Hill Farm in St.Ives, Cambridgeshire, to celebrate all that is good about the French motor manufacturer.
The main event, known as ‘Registers Day’, is organised by the Deux Chevaux Club of Great Britain (2CVGB) and brings together Citroën club members and their classics.
As Car Club Manager for Lancaster Insurance, I travelled half a mile down the road from our offices to see what all the excitement was about. As I entered the grounds, a gate attendant asked to ‘relieve me of ten of my English pounds’, which set the scene nicely. The show field was lit up with rows and rows of Citroën in every colour. I browsed the 2CVs, Dyane’s, Méharis, Amis, H-Vans, Bijous and many more, all lined up in their registers. It was wonderful to see how the owners had incorporated their own style into the cars; ranging from a 2CV painted in ‘Gulf Racing’ colours to a model called the ‘Goatmobile’ which was lined inside with goat skin! Owners sat with their cars, happily chatting to other visitors, eager to show off their pride and joy.
Away from the cars there was a busy campsite, stalls with car spares, Citroën memorabilia and a place to enjoy a well-earned break with a burger and a beer, and in the show arena, enthusiasts viewed the magnificent array of cars.
It was wonderful to see such a fantastic group of individuals of all ages and backgrounds come together to celebrate their passion for this amazing little Citroën. They don’t take themselves too seriously and this event is a great opportunity to meet up with old friends and make news ones. If you’ve ever thought about buying one of these cars or are just a classic car fan, get yourself along to one of 2CVGB’s events; you won’t be disappointed. It’s great fun for all the family and, who knows, you might just fall in love with the Deux Chevaux!"
