| Introduction |
In 1994, 2CVGB
started a spares organisation to plan for the future, to try to
ensure that parts would always be available to keep our A Series
cars on the roads. This would be done by keeping original parts
for use as patterns, and, where necessary, for the club to manufacture
the parts or repair sections.
Manufacture
would only be carried out when no other source was available. Following
discussion at the World meeting in Finland, it was decided by other
European clubs to set up a similar scheme, firstly to avoid duplication
of work, and also to provide an information platform to enable a
wider distribution of knowledge. As there has been little activity
on this front, at the world meeting in Greece it was decided, amongst
those present and interested, to resurrect the scheme.
To ensure its
survival, a different country will Chair the organisation on a rotating
basis.
The UK is Chairing
for the first two years and will hand over at the next World Meeting.
